Welcome to Advanced GIS and Geo-Spatial Analysis, a highly practical, skills-driven course designed to equip students, engineers, GIS professionals, and geospatial enthusiasts with real-world expertise in spatial data handling and analysis using ArcGIS (ArcMap/ArcToolbox) and supporting tools such as QGIS, Excel, MS Word.
This course is 90% practical and 10% theoretical, focusing on hands-on exercises that mirror professional workflows used in water resources engineering, watershed management, urban planning, environmental analysis, and climate studies. Participants will learn how to prepare, manage, analyze, and visualize spatial and non-spatial data from Georeferencing Topsheets and digitizing features, to DEM analysis, interpolation techniques, and rainfall data processing using NetCDF files.
Through step-by-step practical sessions, learners will gain strong competency in working with Shapefiles, Attribute Tables, Symbology, Spatial Analysis Tools, Surface Analysis, and Map Production. Special emphasis is placed on elevation data, rainfall analysis, and spatial decision-making, enabling participants to produce professional, publication-ready maps and geospatial outputs.
By the end of the course, participants will confidently apply advanced GIS techniques to real projects, support data-driven decision-making, and strengthen their professional capacity in geospatial analysis using industry-standard tools.
This course is ideal for anyone seeking applied GIS skills with immediate relevance to engineering, environmental management, and spatial planning projects.
